Department of Wood Science and Wood Protection
- Training in exotic wood
- In recent years, there has been an increase in the share of exotic wood on the European and domestic market, which generates a number of questions about its nomenclature, recognition, properties, appropriate selection, processing technology and effective maintenance. To meet these needs, we provide training in the aforementioned area.
- The training programme and its duration are flexible, i.e. selected according to the needs of the participants, for example: selection of wood types and species discussed, selection of specific issues in wood processing or a particular group of products, e.g. exotic wood in the garden, exotic wood in flooring materials, window joinery, etc. After the training, each participant receives a certificate of completion. Such classes have been conducted for phytosanitary and customs services, employees of Castorama, LeroyMerlin, Jagram, Vox, among others.
- As a standard, the training lasts two days (approx. 16 hours of classes), during which participants learn in detail about 30 species of exotic wood (learning to recognise them, analysing their properties and applications) present on the Polish market. Due to travel and economic conditions (1 overnight stay is sufficient), the training usually starts around 12:00 on the first day and ends approx. 14:30 on the second day.
