A new book on the use of wood in sport has been published.

The book is edited by Dr. Francesco Negro from the University of Turin. The publication is the result of the project “Wood in sports equipment – heritage, present, prospects”, financed in 2021 by the World Wood Day Foundation – www.worldwoodday.org.
Wood plays an important role in human culture. It was traditionally used to make sports tools and playing fields. In some sports, such as tennis, it is now obsolete, but in a few others, it is used extensively from beginner to professional level. For example, wood is used to make baseball bats, table tennis rackets, basketball courts, skis and snowboards, bicycle routes, etc.
Wood researchers from around the world contributed to the book. On the part of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences, dr hab. Agnieszka Jankowska, who wrote a chapter on surfing.
